Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and The International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) released a joint publication on ‘Sukuk: Principles & Practices’ launched by His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at the Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum (KLIFF) 2017 held at the Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
This publication is the second in a series of publications released by the SC and ISRA. The first publication was titled ‘Islamic Capital Markets: Principles & Practices’ and published in 2015. The SC and Khazanah Nasional Berhad are co-sponsors of both the publications.
The Sukuk: Principles & Practices textbook focuses on theoretical and practical sides of governing Sukuk across a variety of jurisdictions and serves as a source of reference to academicians as well as practitioners who would like to gain greater understanding on Sukuk and its contributions for further growth of Islamic Finance.
The global significance of Malaysia’s Sukuk market is the result of orderly development of the Sukuk market ecosystem which today places Malaysia as the world’s leader in the global Sukuk market. Malaysia’s Sukuk market is broadly characterised by the presence of innovative Sukuk structures. More recently, Malaysia witnessed the issuance of the world’s first green Sukuk under the SC’s Sustainable & Responsible Investment (SRI) Sukuk framework. The green Sukuk further affirms the country’s efforts in product innovation as well as its position as a leading Islamic Finance marketplace and its value proposition as a centre for sustainable finance.
KLIFF is an annual Islamic Finance forum that promotes Islamic Finance through in-depth dialogue and is attended by scholars, market intermediaries, business leaders as well as bank and capital market regulators from around the world.
